Returning to Ourselves, Together
There is something about this time of year that invites a soft return.
The air begins to shift. The days stretch a little longer. And even before anything fully blooms, we can feel it—something is changing.
Spring doesn’t rush. It unfolds.
And maybe that’s an invitation for us, too.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about community. Not in the way we often hear about it—networking, gathering, showing up—but in the quieter, more honest sense of what it means to be in community with other Black women.
To be seen without having to explain ourselves.
To be held without having to perform strength.
To exhale in spaces where our fullness is not only welcomed, but understood.
For so many of us, community has also meant carrying. Being the one others rely on. Being strong, capable, and steady—even when we are tired.
But I wonder what it looks like to be in community where we don’t have to carry it all.
Where care moves in multiple directions.
Where we are allowed to receive.
Where we can soften.
Spring reminds us that we are not meant to bloom alone.
Even the earth works in relationship—roots intertwining beneath the surface, unseen but deeply connected. What looks like individual growth is often collective support.
And maybe that’s what is emerging for us now.
A different kind of community.
One that is not rooted in obligation, but in care.
Not in survival alone, but in possibility.
A community where we can witness each other becoming.
As we move into this season, I find myself asking:
Where am I being invited to soften?
Who feels like a place where I can rest, not just give?
What kind of community am I ready to be part of—and help create?
Maybe this season is not just about what is blooming around us. Maybe it’s about what is blooming between us. And within us.
At Exhale, we are building a space rooted in this kind of care—a space where Black women can pause, breathe, and be supported in their mental and emotional well-being.
We are growing a community of women choosing to care for themselves and each other, together. Our goal is to reach 10,000 subscribers—not just as a number, but as a collective of women prioritizing their well-being and reminding each other that we don’t have to do this alone.
If you’ve been looking for a space to exhale, we invite you to join us.
Download the Exhale app and become part of a community rooted in care, culture, and breath.
Affirmation:
I am held in community that honors my fullness. I allow myself to both give and receive care.
Be well,
